About

I worked as a family physician for 30 years and incorporated a few hours of psychotherapy
weekly into my practice. Then I shifted to full-time psychotherapy, still as a physician, called a
focussed practice for the past 15 years. I have enjoyed studying and incorporating IFS into my
work in recent years. I am also informed by MBCT (mindfulness-based cognitive therapy),
Transactional Analysis/Redecision therapy and Somatic Experiencing. I enjoy psychotherapy
and lifelong learning. In my past family practice, I saw the need for psychotherapy services with
costs covered by Medicare for those who would not otherwise have resources to pay or have
health plan coverage. For that reason which coincided with my growing interest in
psychotherapy, I continue to work in medicine and teach part-time at Dalhousie University
where I am an Associate professor in Family Medicine and Continuing Professional
Development.
